Organic listings can take several days, weeks, or months to rank in Search results. Paid Search is the quickest way to increase Search visibility, but it takes time to develop appropriate ad copy, conduct keyword research, allocate budgeting, and set performance parameters, breaking news stories are only “newsworthy” for a short period of time, and launching a successful Paid campaign usually takes days. So, IMPAQT developed a proprietary tool for clients to create a Paid Search campaign 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

This tool, called B-LINQ™, helps generate low cost traffic through Paid Search by reacting quickly to breaking news or other sudden events, clients are able to target their campaigns around anticipated Search terms influenced by this breaking new, in order to be the first (and sometimes only) competitors to reflect these event via Paid Search.

B-LINQ™ in Action

A large television station company sought to increase relevant traffic across 19 of their Web properties through Paid Search. Most of the client’s traffic coming from visitors looking for more information on breaking news stories, so a process to quickly capitalize on high-value news content was needed.

What We Did

  • We looked for ways to automate the Paid Search process and decided that a custom-built, proprietary application was the best way to do so.
  • When we developed B-LINQ, we incorporated two key functionalities:
    • The ability to interact with our systems and to participate in the design and launch of their Paid Search programs in support of breaking news stories.
    • The ability to choose what relevant keywords they want to buy and what URL they want their visitors to land on.

How It Worked

Our client achieved these results with B-LINQ:

  • Over the course of three months, B-LINQ drove 6,742 clicks and nearly 10,000 page views for our media client.
  • The clickthrough rate (CTR) of the B-LINQ campaign is an astounding 4.12% - a great number given the amount of competition and searches related to breaking news stories.
  • The average cost per click (CPC) for a B-LINQ campaign is $0.45 - an extraordinarily low number when comparing to the other campaigns we are running for our client.
  • The amount of unique visitors coming through B-LINQ campaigns reached 67%.
